I am an Army-brat born in Detroit, MI. My family moved around so much that by the time I graduated high school I had attended 10 different schools. During my senior year, I joined the Army on delayed entry and spent the next 20 years being all I could be, with a focus on helicopter maintenance and Quality Control. After my military retirement in 1999, I moved back to the Huntsville area to find employment with the US Army's Aviation and Missile Command (AMCOM), where I currently work supporting Apache helicopters.
Between us, my wife and I have 7 children and (so far) 6 grandchildren. We have both been active in community theater in Huntsville. I have appeared onstage in over 20 plays. Although Gina has been onstage a few times, she prefers to direct or work backstage. Gina is currently a board member for Theater Huntsville.
I joined the Barbershop Harmony Society in 2004. I have been a member of 5 Dixie District choruses; I am an honorary member of the 13th Colony Sound chorus in Savannah, GA; and I once sang in a chapter gig as a guest member of the Sea Breeze Singers in Corpus Christi, TX. I have been on the competition stage with 7 registered quartets in the Dixie District (best finish was 9th). I competed 4 times at Internationals with the Music City Chorus, and twice with the Dixie Seniors Chorus at Midwinter.
I am currently a member of the Sentimental Gentlemen quartet in Birmingham but I'm very happy to be a member of the Choo Choo Chorus and I'm looking forward to big things in the future. Mel
