Twenty three men sang for the 2025 Memorial Day Ceremony at the National Cemetery. We sang Heart of MY Heart as warm up song in the formation shown above meaning everyone present could hear us. The wife of one of the military officers sang the National Anthem unaccompanied with the audience joined in. Later we sang The Armed Forces Medley and God Bless America.
The picture to the left shows the 5 basic vowels we have practiced in warm ups in the last few weeks. We demonstrated that the polecat “down our way” can be performed using only these target vowels before turning the diphthong at the end of the word . For example, sing "dah—-nah—-r—weh, bo—-thnah—-eh—-ndeh." Try doing this exercise thru the entire song, stretching the vowels to feel how sounds.
Then try using these vowels on "bloo—-skah—-smah—-ehng—-eht—-mee." If the entire chorus stretched these vowels and turned the diphthongs together, the results would be WOW! Bill Slack
As I mentioned Thursday night, Please consider a QCD (Qualified Charitable Distribution) from your Regular IRA to the Chapter. You can reduce your gross income by the amount you give the chapter. The Treasurer (JWC) will write you a letter you can use for your tax records . Questions, please ask me. Jim Chappell
