Quartet Contest, Thursday, April 18, 7 PM, Ponders

Board Meeting, Monday, April 22, 6 PM, Ponders. Note change of date.

Special Olympics Track and Field Competition, Saturday. April 27, 9:30 AM to warm up and sing the National Anthem at 10:00. Location: East Hamilton High School, 2015 Ooltewah/Ringgold Road, Ooltewah, 37363. Uniform - khaki pants, blue shirt (long sleeve, short sleeve weather permitting).

Quartet Night is Here

After the fun meeting last week celebrating our hobby’s birthday, this week is even more fun, singing with your friends. IT’s QTET CONTEST TIME! For new guys, a chance to sing with more experienced guys and learn from them. For those of us with some years of experience, an opportunity to share what we know. And for all of us, a chance to show-off what we can do “on stage”, and experience the magic of singing in a q’tet. Plus! There are prizes! Trophies! To commemorate a fun nite! So come and encourage all to participate. Bill Slack

Happy Birthday to BHS! Thanks to Phylis for the cake and Bill for the nice remembrance of our origins. We have much to be proud of and great memories to hold on to! Since we are a Quartet singing Society, please plan on joining us Thursday for the big competition planned. It should be great fun. Until next week, KTWWS!

Paul Blazek is 2023 District BOTY

Our recipient tonight is long overdue. In 1976 he sang with Music City Chorus and went to Internationals. He directed the Tullahoma chorus for three years and then the Chattanooga chorus for 33 years. He sings with the Music City, Sound of Tennessee and Choo Choo Choruses, and has competed in many quartets. My two favorites were 'Round Mounds of Sound' and 'Half Ton of Fun' which I got to sing with him. He has two chorus bronze medals, and one of them shared with his then five year old grandson. He has served eight years on the District Board, half of that as President. He started our District Task Force many years ago and saw it to completion. His work outside of barbershop includes growing a beard and being Santa for children. I want to congratulate him as 2023 Barbershopper of the year. David Murphree 2022 BOTY

District President, Jimmy Tompkins, then presented the 2024 Presidents Award to Lindy Blazek for fourteen years of hospitality work for contest judges.
