I hope everyone enjoyed our little interruption of singing the past few weeks and is ready to get back to work. Roads Scholars will soon be cranking back up and we plan to provide the community with another outstanding Christmas Show in December. Details are being worked out for another venue to meet in and will be shared with the Chorus soon. Until next week, KTTWS. SteveG
I started playing the guitar so I could sing to an instrument. I learned to play by ear and chord charts. Those were the days before the You tube “how to” Videos that current and future musicians have the advantage of using. In the fourth grade I got my first guitar. It was plastic but that is all I really deserved at the time and I thought it was extraordinary.
I quickly found another musician wanna-be who knew a drummer with a snare drum. We formed a band and called ourselves the WEBS. Our repertoire included great tunes such as “I’m Not Your Stepping Stone” and “G.L.O.R.I.A.” Among others. We broke up after about a year due to artistic differences. Since the break up of the WEBS, I have been Playing and singing Solo and with others in bands in Back yards, Garages, Weddings, and Bars.
I was tasked one day to take my daughter to an audition at “Stagecrafters Community Theatre.” While waiting for her to finish the audition, I was asked by the director If I could sing. I Auditioned and got the part of Pawnee Bill. After that I was active In Community Theatre until I moved to Chattanooga in 1996.
One day while playing Tennis with Rich Wilson, I was recruited to sing in the Choo Choo Christmas Chorus 2021. I quickly realized what a talented group of singers the Choo Choo Chorus is. I decide to Join the group and help out in the March 2022 Competition.
I am proud to be a part of this group and hope to be more active when my work schedule lightens up a bit.
