I am truly flattered and honored that you would profile an old has been like me, but my lifetime in barbershop, the last 31 in Chattanooga, has been a joy. The years of serving as Assistant Director and being MC on some shows were great (photograph above from the 2014 Annual Show showing Clarence hilariously introducing a quartet). The friendships that have lasted all these years are amazing.
I started in SPEBSQSA in Hickory, NC in 1977 and served as their Director from 1982 until I came here in 1991. One of the highlights of my barbershop life was joining Fred Jesse, Benny Malone and James Coulter as the Senior Class Quartet and winning the Dixie District Senior Competition in 1995.
It has been a real pleasure to hear the great progress our chorus has made in recent years. Hopefully some day I can join you back on the risers rather than sit in the audience, but I will always be a card carrying member of the Choo Choo Chorus. Clarence
