Senior Chorus Report

Mid Winter in Daytona Beach, Florida was a Blast!! Especially when the 42 voice Sr Chorus from The Dixie District, organized and directed by our Jimmy Tompkins, sang to first place!! The Gold Pin for each member declares him to be a Barbershop Society International Champion! Feels Great!So a huge THANK YOU to Jimmy for all of your hard work, dedication and inspiration you provided to make it all happen!

Encouragement and suggestions from Bob and Weasel of Jimmy's Silver Ring quartet were both very effective. Weasel got us fired up for the opening of Blue Sky by encouraging us to create the mind set of a pirate before singing. We practiced screaming Argh followed by 3 pirate laughter's - Harr, Harr Harr! It Worked! And, thanks to all 42 members who put in so much time and energy weeks before, to sing so well, and earn those Gold Pins!

Quartets Silver Ring and Deep Water sang great - much better than the judge's opinion! (photographs to the right). Deep Water did earn their best score ever for The Great Race. That was a lot of fun to see. So, Congratulations to both of our quartets!

Let us all continue to work so hard, perfecting our craft, to bring in Gold at the Spring Competition in Gadsden, Alabama!

We'll finalize our songs for contest this week as well as several other songs we'll work on. See the song list for this week.

Dixie Contest Information

INFO ON GADSDEN:
We'll meet at 9:15 am on Saturday, March 18th at Wallace Hall. We get in the pattern at 9:55 am.

WEAR: Black pants, shoes, socks, white regular collar shirt, red tie and blue blazer with red pocket square. (No vest)

Registration will be open at 8 am, on Saturday, at the Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Gadsden, 116 Walker Street, Gadsden, AL 35904. If you need to purchase a registration or change your printed Eventbrite ticket then take care of this in time to get to Wallace Hall and in the building by 9:15.

I'm looking forward to another great night this Thursday.

Awards Banquet Announcement

The annual chorus Awards/ Valentine Party will be held at Fairview United Methodist Church in Rossville, GA on Thursday, March 30. It will be catered by (who else?) the Choo Choo BBQ It will start at 6:30. Cost is $15 a person which must be paid ahead of time. A sign up sheet and a receipt book will be at future practices to make an accurate record of those who will be attending. Bill
